Work Family…

Family is not always blood. This is my Thoracic Surgery family.... supporting me and wearing their Each ❤️ Beat Matters tshirts!

This journey actually started on August 25, 2020 when I cardiac arrested at a meeting at work. A nurse practitioner from the Plastic Surgery practice and Dr. Deluzio (Thoracic Surgeon) successfully resuscitated me. I was intubated and admitted to the ICU. Shortly afterwards I was transferred to Boston Childrens Hospital where I underwent several procedures including a pacemaker placement. My recovery from this incident was seamless and I appeared to be doing well for a while but then my heart health began to gradually decline. My heart failure worsened and I was admitted to the hospital again in February 2023 at which time we were informed that I needed a heart transplant. I would not be on this miraculous journey if not for the skillful and courageous CPR interventions provided on that fateful day. Believe me I have said thank you but I know it will never be enough.

I miss my Thoracic family and I appreciate their support each and every day!

Each ❤️ beat matters
