This week was another busy one.we drove to Boston on Sunday night in the snow. We saw approximately 6 accidents on the way but we arrived safely. Monday we met with Dr.Ward for a very informative discussion about bone health. I have evidence of bone fragility based on unexplained fractures on a cat scan, Vitamin D deficiency and I'm post menopausal so he is ordering a Bone density scan and Reclast infusion treatments. This medication is used to treat osteoporosis and reduce the risk of fractures. Unfortunately, my Vitamin D level is too low for me to have the treatment now so he has instructed me thst I will need to start a high dose, 50,000 lU Vit D once per week (note this is not a daily medication).Take this for four weeks..Also start a 2,000 IU Vit D supplement - this should be taken daily. After 4 weeks on the high dose supplement, have repeat bloodwork done. After I'm done with the high dose supplement I will continue to take the daily 2000 IU daily Vit D. If my vitamin D level is within normal limits I will receive the Reclast. I guess we will see what happens next month.
Tuesday Elizabeth took me for my weekly bloodwork and those results were all normal including my Tacrolimus level which was 10.8. I will be able to start the slow release Tacrolimus soon. I'm really hoping that my body tolerates this medication better and some of these awful symptoms will stop. I am truly grateful to be alive and sometimes I feel selfish complaining about not feeling well. I hope for the day, I means days when I will say " I feel good " no more pain, tremors, stomachaches, nausea, chills, headaches, shortness of breath, fatigue and anxiety. Don't get me wrong I would take it occasionally but not as often as I do right now. I know it will get better- just waiting impatiently today.
Wednesday my Aunt Kathleen brought me to my appointment with my therapist. It went well. We discussed my experience at my biopsy procedure among other issues I've had recently. I really feel like he listens and provides good feedback. After that visit I headed to Cardiac Rehabilitation. The session went well but I couldn't do the treadmill because my feet and ankles are hurting too much. I did the non weightbearing exercises.
Today I took a much needed day of rest. Darlene came over and hung out with me. I appreciate my friends and family so much. I'm still not driving because of the way the medications make me feel and I don't feel safe operating a vehicle. I am lucky that they are so supportive and available to assist me during this time. Thank you all so much!! I love you !
