Canceled

I’ve been hanging in there feeling pretty much the same as usual- side effect symptoms from my medications and pain in my feet and ankles bilaterally. I had my first appointment with the pain management clinic @ Mass General. I saw a PA who was very nice. She wants to try to manage my pain with medications. I have been taking 100mg of Lyrica at night. She added 25mg in the morning. It makes me drowsy but I push through it the best I can. I will do anything to be rid of this pain and walk normal again. She also told me to increase my Ultram from one tablet to 2 tablets. I don’t like the way it makes me feel so I try not to take it at all. Tylenol is my go to but it doesn’t really help at all. She also told me to try lidocaine cream on my feet- not helping. I’m just hoping for some relief soon.

I was scheduled for a clinic visit with the heart transplant specialists at which time I would have an echo and a right heart catheterization with cardiac biopsy. I received a message from the Cath lab…

Hi, this message is for Kelly. My name is Justine. I'm a nurse calling from the cardiac Catholic at Mass General Hospital. I just wanted to discuss with you your appointment for next week. On October 16 We are having an ivy , fluid shortage , and any procedures that would record any elective procedures requiring IV fluid are being postponed and I'm seeing that historically with your biopsies here in the Cath Lab if you do receive sedation If you would prefer to have your procedure completed with sedation And we would have to cancel the biopsy aspect of that appointment. If you were willing to have the procedure performed with local anesthetic only we would be able to perform the procedure that day so please feel free to give me a call back to discuss. The number is 6 1 7 7 2 6. 7 4 0 0 you can ask to speak with any nurse in the Cath Lab OK and if we don't hear from you today, it's Friday at like 3: 20 PM. Feel free to call us back on Tuesday and will be able to touch base with you then all right thank you so much.…”

I was physically shaking when I heard the voicemail.

My anxiety was out of control. There is no way I could tolerate this procedure without sedation. I’m too anxious especially after what happened during the last procedure. I sent my team a message explaining how I feel and they agreed with me so now we are rescheduling everything and I’m going to get my iron infusion at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. This is definitely more convenient. I am just waiting for new appointment dates.

David and I went to his nephew’s wedding Saturday evening. It was a little over an hour away so we stayed overnight at a hotel. The wedding was fun and it was nice to get away.

On October 12th my son Corey turned 30. Happy Birthday Corey! We are all getting old lol ! I really wanted to see him on his milestone birthday so

we are traveling to Texas at the end of the month to see my children. We rented a lake house. I just know it’s going to be amazing. I’m looking forward to spending some relaxing time with them by the water. I really need it. We will be bringing my wheelchair because there is no way I can walk through the airport. It makes me feel so helpless when I’m being pushed along. I can’t drive either. I’ve really lost my independence and I want it back. I will continue to follow my providers orders and keep fighting

through this. Every day is a bonus and I’m blessed!
